Description
The Kia Orana Bag is a special creation inspired by Karla Eggleton, our Tourism CEO, who has supported my small business from the very beginning—back when I first started weaving bags from plastic. A while ago, she approached me with an exciting challenge: could I repurpose street banners that were no longer usable due to printed event dates? Of course, I was eager to take on the project!
For this design, I chose an arm bag with a short handle, requiring strong structure and durability—perfect for showcasing the repurposed street banner material, which allows the bag to stand upright while maintaining a stylish look.
This particular Kia Orana Bag is crafted from a World Tourism Day banner, featuring a beautiful print of a sandy beach and coconut palms—a true reflection of our island paradise. It is an open handbag, designed for easy access, with a small closure strap positioned at the center of the handles to keep your essentials secure.
The front panel highlights the vibrant imagery of the banner, making this one-of-a-kind piece not just a functional bag, but also a symbol of sustainability and island hospitality.
